Voices from the Field

SY

Sharon Yeo

CFO · Financial Services, Singapore

"We engaged Merlion Arc for the landscape review before committing to any AI investment. The report was direct and grounded — it told us clearly where our data infrastructure needed to improve before AI would actually add value. That kind of honesty is not easy to find. We have since used the phased recommendations as our working roadmap."

Kevin Muthu

Head of Operations · Logistics SME

"The operations design engagement was exactly what we needed. We had a vague sense that scheduling and document handling were areas AI could help with, but we did not know where to begin. The team mapped our workflows carefully, flagged two areas where the effort-to-benefit ratio was genuinely strong, and walked us through a pilot that ran without disrupting the team."

Li Hui Tan

L&D Manager · Professional Services

"We ran the workforce capability programme across two cohorts — one for client-facing staff and one for our operations team. The modular structure worked well because the content could be calibrated differently for each group. The individual development summaries were genuinely useful during our subsequent performance reviews. The only thing I would want more of is follow-up support after the programme closes."

Arun Rajasekaran

CTO · Technology Consultancy

"What stood out was that the Merlion Arc team did not come with a predefined answer. They spent real time understanding how our technical team operates day-to-day before making any suggestions. The vendor evaluation component was particularly strong — they assessed five tools against our infrastructure without steering us toward anything specific. We ended up choosing a tool we had not heard of before they flagged it."

Patricia Wong

HR Director · Healthcare Administration

"The ethics component in the training was something our team specifically appreciated. We operate in a regulated environment where data handling carries real weight, and it was important to us that the training addressed these considerations thoroughly rather than as an afterthought. Several participants commented on this afterwards. The pace of the programme also felt considered rather than rushed."

Nadia Zulkifli

General Manager · Retail Group

"We completed the landscape review and used its findings to scope a capability building programme six months later. The consistency between engagements was something we valued — the team had context from the first project, which meant the training was calibrated to our actual gaps rather than a generic curriculum. The written summary at the end of each engagement has been a useful reference point for our leadership discussions."

In Depth

Selected Case Studies

Three examples of how Merlion Arc engagements have played out in practice — with the challenge, response, and outcome described honestly.

Case Study 01

Financial Services Firm — AI Readiness Review

55-person firm · Singapore CBD · AI Landscape Review

Duration: 4 weeks

Challenge

Leadership had received conflicting internal views on AI readiness — some departments believed they were ready to invest, others flagged data quality concerns. The board wanted an independent view before committing to any significant spend.

Response

Merlion Arc conducted interviews with twelve stakeholders across five departments, administered a structured readiness survey, and audited four core digital systems. The landscape report delivered a clear maturity score by function and a sequenced three-stage investment recommendation.

Outcome

The firm proceeded with Stage 1 of the recommendation (data infrastructure improvement) rather than immediate AI tool adoption. Twelve months later, they reported being in a significantly stronger position to evaluate and adopt AI tools with confidence.

Case Study 02

Professional Services Firm — Workforce Training

120-person firm · Multiple departments · Capability Building

Duration: 10 weeks

Challenge

Employees at all levels were beginning to use AI tools independently — but inconsistently and without shared standards. The firm wanted to build a common foundation of AI literacy while addressing the ethical and governance dimensions relevant to client work.

Response

Two parallel cohorts ran over ten weeks — one for client-facing staff focused on AI fundamentals and ethical use, and one for operations staff with additional modules on prompt design and workflow automation. Each participant received an individual development summary.

Outcome

Post-programme assessments showed meaningful improvement in AI literacy scores across both cohorts. The firm subsequently used the individual development summaries as part of their performance planning cycle, and introduced an internal AI usage policy shaped by the ethics module content.

Case Study 03

Logistics SME — Operations Design

40-person operation · Singapore · AI-Augmented Operations Design

Duration: 13 weeks

Challenge

Significant time was being spent by operations staff on manual scheduling updates and document reconciliation. Management suspected AI could help but lacked the technical background to evaluate tools or define a realistic scope for implementation.

Response

Merlion Arc mapped the scheduling and document workflows in detail, identified two processes with strong automation potential, and ran a structured evaluation of three candidate tools. A pilot was implemented on the document reconciliation workflow over four weeks with defined performance benchmarks.

Outcome

The pilot showed a meaningful reduction in manual processing time for the targeted workflow. The operations team took the documented design forward independently. The firm is currently evaluating whether to scope a second engagement focused on the scheduling workflow.
